Hi Jason, Thanks :)

Used mental ray for the Digger, but I am in the process of switching over to Houdini and Mantra.

Awesome!! didn't know that you are blogging. I fall in love with your "Digger" a while back, the CA, lens flare, grain, and film-ish grading....May I ask what is your renderer of choice?

Seems you are working on some really cool tool for Nuke. Looking forward to here updates about them.

Blog subscribed.
cheers,
Jason

Hi Theo
I saw this composition of The Aftermath for the first time sometime around 2008, I always liked a lot the look of it but didn't have idea how it got done, then after completing my studies in composition from the 3D Animation program and Visual Fx I was taking where I learned Eyeon Fusion, I found the public comp of the Aftermath, studied it, reproduced it, what it made me learn how to do 3D in Fusion that I just knew how to do in After Effects, and went ahead and created The Before of the Aftermath or the explosion. Using mostly Lightwave for dynamics and camera work and fusion for the rest.
It'll be great if you can provide me with a feedback of what you think of my part of the comp.
Thanks a lot

Yes it relights using a lambertian shader on everything, but based only from a zdepth. It can extract pCam and nCam to do the relighting. Its just for fun, but if you supply it proper P and N passes you get more accurate and better results.

I'll trow it up here soon.

<a href="#comment-12" rel="nofollow">@Test!</a>
Well, as the title states and being that relighting is all the craze these days, I'd say it's a relighting tool.
The question shouldn't be, "why nuke?" Nuke is nothing short of awesome. My question is, why zdepth and not normals.
